2026 Ofrenda
Memorias Entretejidas | Woven Memories
This year’s DDM Week ofrenda celebrates life through the beauty of what is both fragile and enduring.
Inspired by the movement and color of papel picado and the strength of handwoven natural fibers, Memorias Entretejidas reflects the way our lives are made of moments—colorful, beautiful, ever-changing, and inevitably ephemeral.
Like paper moving in the wind, each moment passes. But what we live does not simply disappear. Experiences become memories; memories become stories; and stories, when shared, become part of something stronger.
Through the act of weaving, individual fibers come together to create something capable of lasting and holding. In the same way, our memories become our roots, our traditions, and the invisible threads that connect families, generations, and communities.
Memorias Entretejidas invites Highland Park to celebrate those connections and the lives, stories, and traditions that continue to live among us.
Each memory is a thread. Together, we create the fabric of our community.
2025 Ofrenda: Maíz – Seed of Life
At the heart of our land, corn connects us to our roots and to one another.
Through colors, textures, and memory, this offering reminds us that we all come from the same earth — and through remembrance, life continues to bloom.
Each kernel tells a story. Each color carries an emotion.
A tribute to life, love, and the shared rhythm that unites us all.
2024 Ofrenda: Xolo – The Spiritual Guide
Last year’s altar, Xolo – The Spiritual Guide, paid tribute to the Xoloitzcuintle, the ancient dog believed to guide souls on their journey to the afterlife. Through luminous colors, handcrafted elements, and heartfelt offerings, the installation symbolized loyalty, protection, and the eternal bond between the living and those who have passed.
